Georgios Tzavellas, MD, MSc, FSVS, FACS was born in Athens in 1986. He graduated from the University of Ioannina Medical School. He completed his residency in Vascular Surgery in the United States, at Stony Brook University Hospital (State University of New York- SUNY), in 2020.

He worked as a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Indiana University Health, Ball Memorial Hospital in Indiana (USA) performing numerous open and endovascular operations. He was the Vascular Surgeon of the group treating peripheral ischemia of the lower limbs. He also developed the advanced endovascular aortic surgery program as well as transcarotid artery revascularization program (TCAR) at the same hospital. At the same time, he held the position of Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine, training residents in endovascular treatment of vascular diseases.

He holds the diploma of the American Board of Surgery- Vascular Surgery (Board Certified Vascular Surgeon). In October 2022 he was awarded the title of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) at the annual conference of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member and fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery of the United States of America. He also holds the RPVI (Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation) certification, necessary for evaluating vascular ultrasound in the US.

The surgeon has participated with presentations and lectures at conferences both in America and Europe. He also has publications in scientific journals.

From the beginning of 2024 he returned to Greece at the position of the Associate Director of the Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at the Athens Medical Center.
